Big Island is a spectacular deep-delta haven for writers, photographers and other creative-types concerning paddling the Lower Mississippi River!

Deep in December, we made the first motions in the creation of a new canoe – a thirty-four foot, voyageur-style, wood-strip beauty.  Four months later, with the help of many hands and the strength of many trees,  Grasshopper was born.
